Sewing and Quilting Classes

Quilt Beginnings

Designed especially for the “newbie to quilting”. You will learn accurate cutting using a rotary cutter and ruler, sewing with a scant Ό” seam allowance, simply quilting and binding application all while creating a lovely table runner. First class is a discussion of fabric selection and machine use.

Stitching with Jennifer

Come and join Jennifer with your own hand stitching projects. A 4 month commitment required. Samples of potential projects will be available soon!

Basic Garment Sewing

Learn the fundamentals of sewing garments using a simple tailored pyjama pattern. Starting with measuring for fit the first class, we will cover the basics of preparation. The next two classes take the cut pieces to wearable clothing. *A working knowledge of your sewing machine is a MUST as there’ll be no time for instruction for the sewing machine.

Make these fun mittens with colourwork. Learn how to carry your colours, and read the colourwork charts. From this class you will learn the techniques that you can use to do most colourwork patterns.

Turkish Bedsocks

Do you have left over sock yarn? This class will teach you how to make a little ankle style sock that can be worn in bed or just around the house. It only requires one 50g ball of yarn to create a pair of socks with plenty left over. It is a perfect way to use up left over sock yarn.

Beginner Knitting

Learn how to knit in this class. We will be creating dishcloths in this class. Casting on, binding off, the knit stitch, increasing, decreasing and the purl stitch will all be covered. Supplies are included in this class.

Knit and Natter – Social Knitting 101. Bring one of your current projects! Enjoy knitting and having a great chat with new friends. Have a cup of tea or coffee on us!

Knit with Lisa – Have a knitting project that you are stuck on. Are you having trouble with a stitch, reading a pattern or finishing? Come join Lisa and work on those projects. She will help you out with your problems. We will meet the second Wednesday of the month. Come once or every month!

Wild Rose Stitchers, a chapter of The Appliquι Society (TAS), meets on the third Wednesday of each month in Addie’s classroom for a day of appliquιing and sharing tips and techniques. Members work on projects of their own choice including many of the appliquι kits and class projects available in the shop. Meetings start at 10:30 and go until midafternoon. Bring your own lunch or take advantage of one of the take-out restaurants in Cochrane. The chapter invites all adults from beginner to expert.

Hand Applique with Linda - Come and stitch with Linda. This will be offered the first Wednesday of the month. Come for one session, or join for all. Bring your stitching projects for a few hours of comraderie, show and tell and trouble shooting. Pre-registration is required.

Registration Policies
Pre-registration is required for all classes.
Classes are reserved on a first-come basis.
Payment is due in full at the time of registration.
We give a 15% discount on all class supplies.
Please mark your calendars with your class times. We will not be responsible for missed classes.

Cancellation Policies
Addie’s reserves the right to cancel a class if we haven’t met our minimum enrollment seven days prior to class. If we cancel a class, we will gladly refund your class fee. If you cancel up to seven days prior to the start of the first class, a class credit will be issued. We will not issue a refund or credit if you cancel less than seven days before the start of the class.

Classroom Etiquette
Please refrain from using perfume and turn your cell phone off.
Please leave your children at home while attending a class.
Please ensure your sewing machine is in good working condition.
Please purchase class supplies before class time.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to set up.
All classes will start promptly at the designated time.

We offer in-store machine servicing by GPO Services – usually the first
Wednesday of the month.
Please register in store to confirm your service appointment.
