Beginner Crochet In this class you will learn crochet basics: casting on, chain, single, double and triple crochet, US and UK differences in names, how to increase and decrease stitches and cast off. You will create a sample swatch and your choice of a hat, or dishcloth. Supplies for the sample swatch are included in the class fee. If you are looking to make a hat, this is the class for you. You can choose the style you like; a combination of knits and purls (textured), cabled, colour work or lace. A few sample patterns will be available, your own pattern is fine too, Oct 12, 19 & 26 | 6:60pm - 8:30pm

In this class you will learn the beginning concepts of free motion quilting. We will talk about needles, tensioning, sewing speed, threads and marking tools. You will practice some movements on your own machines and will leave with some next steps in mind. You will need to bring your machine, free motion foot, standard piecing thread a couple of spare bobbins, a pen and paper for notes.

This is a beginner skill-builder class for those who have never attempted a quilt but would like to learn the basics. Choose a lap or crib size quilt. We will discuss quilting tools and thread, stitch length and tension. You will learn how to measure accurately and cut fabric using a rotary cutter, self-healing mat and quilting rulers. You will learn to piece with a 1/4" foot and quilt with a walking foot. The project finishes at 54" square or smaller allowing you to quilt it yourself on your domestic sewing machine. Prerequisite for this class is Quilt Beginnings class or equivalent skills required. The first in a series of three classes that will increase your skills. We will create six blocks that can be turned into a sampler quilt, or using your imagination, create a new quilt top. Accurate piecing, paper piecing and raw edge applique techniques will be demonstrated. Blocks you will create are: sawtooth, flying geese, waves, log cabin, snail's trail and a foundation paper pieced fan. Fall 2023 offering: Oct 15, 22, 29 Nov 5, 12, 19 class start time to be confirmed. Make your own quilted jacket! Choose a designed fabric or make your own design to make your coat totally original. You'll stay warm thanks to the cotton or wool batting, while the roomy welt pockets keep your belongings safe and your hands warm. Techniques involved include straight seams, basic quilting, inserting a welt pocket, and applying bias binding. Six - four hour sessions. Pattern must be purchased in advance.

Learn to create a sweater from the top down. You will learn how to create raglan increases, how to work short rows, how to work sleeves from backwards loop cast on, picking up stitches and minimizing holes to working in the round.
