Skill Details: Students must be familiar with their sewing machines including winding a bobbin, threading the machine, adjusting stitch length and width, troubleshooting tension issues and changing presser feet.
Instructor: Samantha Nelson
Instructor Bio: Samantha took up quilting in 2003 and has been teaching classes since 2010. Her grandfather, a tailor, influenced her love of sewing. Samantha began with hand quilting and then switched to machine piecing and long-arming. She started a custom quilting and long-arming business in 2018 called Pincushion Productions. She loves gadgets that make quilting more accurate and efficient. Her mother, a mathematician, instilled Samantha's love of math which she uses in designing blocks, borders, quilts and other projects. Now a talented and accomplished quilter and pattern writer, Samantha loves creating with fabric, colours and textures. States Sam, "Quilting has connected me to my past and brings new friends into my present; I enjoy sharing what I've learned."
